Housing Planning Application For Former Railway Sidings

Just been informed by Ali - I haven't looked since early last week - that there are plans in at AVBC for housing on the old railway sidings ... the same ones of ecological value that were illegally dumped on with excavated waste when they finished building Asda ... thus obliterating any wildlife and making damn sure any future plans couldn't be objected to.

AVA/2014/0790

Former Exchange Sidings (Bridge Street)

Outline Application for up to 58 Dwellings, with access into the site unreserved.

30% of the dwellings to be 'Affordable Housing'

17 - 2 Bedroom Apartments
37 - 3 Bedroom Houses
4 - 4  Bedroom Houses

Not bad to say it was only for storing flatbeds, but I suppose it's marginally better than what the teenagers are doing on it.

Hmmm, it goes a long way, right past Argyle Street, I bet they're impressed. Oh bless, they're retaining some existing trees, well there would have been a lot more trees to retain if RG Group, Asda and Heanor Haulage hadn't seen fit to bulldoze them down and cover them with crap.

I will look at the rest of the plans when I have time. Thanks for the info Ali ...

Update 8.12.14

Having just had a check at AVBC to see if a decision on these plans - expected Dec 2014 - has been made. We're now informed that the decision has been put back until May 2015.

Update 20.06.15

After checking daily from the 29th of May,  I now find the decision has been put back again until 23rd July 2015...

  1. Some of the info is a little bit confusing as the Arboricultural Survey has its details as Former Exchange Sidings, Wesley Street.

Then you move onto the next letter on AVBC Planning site and info gives the address as Bridge Street, regarding Section 106 Contributions ?

The following bus Services that operate locally are named as Amberline, Black Cat, Rainbow One and Rapid One, the ONLY problem is they FAIL to state the frequency of the Sunday Service, as 2 of those Routes DO NOT run on Sunday !

  2. I'm wondering, after looking at the plans - but not having fully digested them yet - if they intend to use the same route to the already passed plans at the back of us and join them together - 'Planning Potential 1.3'.

They were meant to be using Bridge Street for access, which we all thought was ludicrous as there are nearly twice as many houses proposed (60ish) than there already are on Bridge Street (30ish), with a probable 60+ more cars wanting to use the road. It's stuffed to the brim with cars parked both sides now. Not to mention the daft buggers who park half way down to nip to the post office instead of using Asda's car park. I don't know how we'd cope with the extra traffic.

    1. I can't find anything in the Plans that states how or where the access onto and off the site is going to be ?

    2. Only just got as far as reading the 'Traffic Assessment'. I thought they'd want to come on to the site from the other end on Cromford Road. WRONG!!!! They want to use Bridge Street for all the houses on both developments. They must be out of their tiny minds. I'm objecting, it's insane.

  3. I notice that the last Transport Assessment was made in May 2009 and gave 33 vehicle movements in a weekday PM Peak hour.

No figure was given for AM Peak hour, or what day in the week those details were compiled ?

    1. I mention the date of 2009 as this is long before the arrival of Asda, so that old transport Assessment is well out of date and needs to be reassessed to give a true and accurate figure of vehicle movements now that the Post Office has relocated onto the Asda development, just a thought AVBC !
