Tavern Car Wash Not Exactly Permanent

Now I'm back back home and have read my letter from the council; it's clear that this wet pile of tat is NOT PERMANENT, the permission for it runs out 31st December 2014 this time, because - "The development is of a type not considered suitable for permanent retention in accordance with policy EN16 of the Adopted Amber Valley Borough Local Plan 2006".

And "Within one month a scheme for the removal of waste water from the site and measures to prevent surface water draining onto the public highway shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority".

And "Only mains powered equipment shall be used on site. No generators shall be used on site without the PRIOR written approval of the Local Planning Authority" -  I did notice that their opening hours have been extended too:

Between 0900 hours and 1800 hours Monday-Fridays

Between 0900 hours and 1700 hours Saturday

Between 0930 hours and 1630 hours on Sunday.

Therefore I can conclude that this ugly eyesore can remain permanently temporary - with repeat applications being granted permission for years and years and years and years ... we'll see shall we ...

  1. Well it seems that our mini protest has had some effect and I hope they HAVE to show a Legal operator is removing the waste water from the site and NOT letting it go down the drain, I was told by my neighbour that the best people to contact are the Environment Agency to make sure all the paperwork is legal regarding contaminated water removal !

Seems funny that all these clauses have suddenly been added now ?

    1. What I saw this afternoon about 2.15pm was a blue pipe coming from an underground tank on the Car Wash site and it appeared to be pumping fluid down the Water Drain on Station Road in front of the Car Wash.

Does this mean that it no longer has a Legal Operator to REMOVE contaminated water, just pump it down the DRAIN ?

I wish I had my camera with me at the time to take photographic evidence of what was happening, maybe next time, I hope ?

  3. I noticed today, that the "workers" at the car wash, carried on working, through the 2 minutes silence, such is their respect for the people who gave everything for their freedom.

  4. They have put in another application for 2yr consent and it includes retaining all the metal containers and timber structures. AVA/2013/1093. We need to put pressure on the parish council as their minutes show that they did not have any objection to the last application.

  5. Yes, I received a letter from AVBC on Monday to let me know about the new application. It almost seemed like they wanted me to object to it. As soon as I've got time I will have my say - I've got 28 days. Just got to get through one or two funerals first :(

  6. The removal of waste water seems to be a bit of a joke, I've seen large pools of water on the site and it still runs into the gutters on Station Road !

Looks like a phone call to the Environment Agency in the New Year !
